Is it okay to leave a sailboat out in the weather?

I have a JY15, we're docking it in a bay during the warm months, but is it perfectly okay to leave it chilling out at the dock, exposed to rain? I know the boat's supposed to get wet, and the sails too, but will bacteria grow make the sails look crappy if the sail is furled up, filled with warm water for days, maybe weeks at a time?
